The artist

As a child, her work covered the walls of her little room in Ariège, France.

However encouraged by her family, offering her books and academic readings, she chose a more personal learning until 1991 when the School of Fine Arts in Tarbes hosts her in its workshops of painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics and photo.

After three years of classes well “too rigid”, she finds back her self-taught part; she works under various influences of artists such as Modigliani, until 1999.

The end of the last century marks a new beginning both for her family, housed in a small village in the Hautes-Pyrenees, Lahitte-Toupière, and artistically; she will keep painting and sculpting her family but with less and less external artistic influences.

She now describes her family in a more personal, more accomplished way, with colors that sometimes unite and often conflict.

Yes…….she certainly illustrates the different facets of life…..of love.

But you have probably already noticed…..

Veronique Clanet is both a painter and a sculptor. Her paintings exude serenity,a tenderness for life and love that is found in her bronzes and terracotta. Hers is a world of colored curves, spirals that graze and mingle to the delight of the eye that captures them.

Sophie Paillard (galeriste)

Veronique Clanet, painter, sculptor and ceramist is a woman who combines in her strength and fragility. Her path led her to Lahitte-Toupière in 1999 after a stay at the Beaux-Arts in Tarbes in 1991.
Fascinated from an early age by painting, she turned to sculpture at her arrival in Lahitte and started to work the earth collected at her feet. She formats it in order to create her pieces for the creation of bronzes. The pieces from her instinctive creations exude a sensuality which is perceived at first glance: the characters seem to dance naturally in a rounded, voluptuous and graceful movement. The unconditional love is shown through the themes of motherhood and marriage.
In 2006, her bronzes were exhibited in Paris at the Gallery Vivendi, Place des Vosges. Since, she participated in numerous exhibitions: Biarritz, Saint – Emilion, Maisse, Nancy, Dinard, Sorèze…..
Meeting the artist does not leave indifferent and gives the feeling of being in the presence of an outstanding character with inner richness.
